WOW!

So its been a while since I have updated this thing. So sorry, we are alive and well!  Little Hankie is growing like a weed, and I have so enjoyed staying home and playing with him.  That little boy just melts my heart.  He has five little teeth now that are the cutest things I have ever seen.  He is nine months old now, and I can't believe that my baby is just a short three months from one.  It makes me so sad to think how fast time has gone by, but at the same time it is so much fun to watch him explore, learn, and grow. Since its been so long since I last updated, here are a few pictures of our little guy over the last few months...

3 Months today!

Wow, I can't believe my little baby is three months old! I guess he isn't much of a little baby anymore. Dave and I have been calling him "Hank the tank" lately because he is getting to be such a solid little guy. We have to lift the multiple chins when we bathe him at night, and are surprised at the things we find in there. We have to do the same thing with the rolls in his thighs. Dave and I are crazy for this little guy. Here are some fun facts about little Hankie Pankie right now...
  • He has been loving his changing table; moving his legs and arms like crazy. (We think that he mostly likes being nakie.)
  • He loves standing up big and tall.
  • He makes you work for his smiles, but it is always worth it when he gives you that toothless grin. He is a little shy about it, turning his head when he smiles, or only giving you half a grin.
  • He has been starting to do a belly laugh. He doesn't know what he is doing, all he knows is that something tickles. Its adorable!
  • He is so funny, someone can sneeze in the room, and it startles him. Even doing the dishes around him when he isn't expecting it, scares him. He takes it in stride, though. He usually never cries.
  • This boy can stretch. He stretches after every nap, and when he wakes up. Its usually for a good five or ten minutes.
  • He does not like his binky when someone is trying to stick it in his mouth. Its a little tricky, you have to give it to him making him think that it was all his idea.
  • He usually is a great sleeper. He usually prefers to go to sleep on his own, in his crib. I say usually because this past week all he has wanted is to be held.
  • He loves the comfort of our home. It is where he is comfortable and most happy. You take him out of it, and he gets cranky. It takes him some warming up to get used to new people and new places. (The poor Brasher's know all too well what I am talking about.)
  • He still likes being swaddled. ( which I love...)
  • He looks forward to bath time, and bed time. Sometimes it doesn't come soon enough for him.
  • He has kind of a raspy voice and cry.
  • He loves to talk and coo.
  • I love when he discovers his hand. His eyes go cross.
  • When he gets hungry, he sucks his top lip. It makes a smacking noise.
  • Before he starts to cry, his bottom lip will quiver and he will make the cutest frowning face.
  • He rubs his head on the carpet and on his blankets. To the point that he makes knots in his hair that are impossible to get out! We have to cut them out.
  • He loves his Dad. Dave can always get him to smile.
As you can see, there are so many little things that we love about this guy. Dave and I are just so blessed to have Hank. We are crazy about him, and are loving getting to know him.

Ready...Set...Can!!

My Mom sent my sisters up with two full buckets of fresh picked pears from my Grandma's orchard. So delicious, but SO many pears! I thought I was ready for the new task of canning pears, and adding to our poor looking food storage, but looking at the buckets was a bit intimidating. So, what else do I do then ask my best friend to help me out with the new project? He didn't even bat an eye. He got home from work, and we rolled our sleeves up, and dove right on in. Needless to say it was QUITE the project! We only did one bucket, and it made four jars...like I said, quite the project. As much as I hate to admit it, I processed the pears wrong, so we have been enjoying some very delicious canned pears! The next bucket will hopefully be better, so we can add them to our food storage:)

Visitors

This last weekend Dave and I had the privilege of having both my sisters up. It was so great to see them and their cute families. It was a short trip, but we had a lot of fun. We are already looking forward to the next time we see them.

So Lucky!

Man, I feel so lucky! Just a couple of days ago I checked my e-mail and found this sweet surprise...

The Workin’ Life

By D. Carter

Inspired by Kelli Carter

The workin’ life is hard for me

And let me tell you why

Leavin’ my sweet wife each day

Just makes me want to cry

The workin’ life is hard for me

She’s home, asleep in bed,

And I can’t do a single thing

To get her out of my head

The workin’ life is hard for me

If you couldn’t tell

When I’m with the sweetest thing

I’d say my life is swell

No, the workin’ life ain’t easy

I hate to say goodbye

But workin’ for my darling girl

Is the joy of my life

I love you sweet girl!

Have a wonderful day J

Isn't he just the best? I am just crazy for that David Carter!
